Mission Roll Call Congratulates Doug Collins on VA Secretary Nomination
Mission Roll Call congratulates former Congressman Doug Collins on his nomination as Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs. While this nomination marks an important step, Collins must still undergo the Senate confirmation process before officially assuming the role. We look forward to the opportunity to collaborate with him, should his nomination be confirmed, to amplify the voices of veterans and their families as he takes on this critical responsibility.
The Secretary of Veterans Affairs leads the VA in its mission to serve those who have served our country. This role oversees critical programs such as healthcare services through the Veterans Health Administration, benefits and compensation through the Veterans Benefits Administration, and memorial services via the National Cemetery Administration. By guiding policies and managing a vast network of services, the Secretary ensures that the needs of veterans and their families remain a national priority.
Doug Collins brings a wealth of experience to this position. As a U.S. Representative for Georgia’s 9th Congressional District (2013–2021), he played key roles, including serving as ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee. His tenure in Congress, coupled with his ongoing service as a U.S. Air Force Reserve chaplain, underscores his understanding of veterans’ needs and the challenges they face. We believe his background could be instrumental in driving positive change for the veteran community, pending his confirmation.
We’re eager to see how his potential leadership could advance initiatives that make a real impact. Mission Roll Call remains committed to collaborating with the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, whoever that may be, to advocate for meaningful progress for all who served.
