Food & Financial Insecurity

Veterans enter the workforce with advanced training, valuable skills and a record of service. But they still struggle to find employment, earn the salaries they deserve, reach leadership roles and find community outside the military.

Four in five military and veterans families have experienced financial stress in the past year. One in five are food insecure. Mission Roll Call addresses leading factors such as homelessness, unemployment, and health benefits.

A Deeper Look

Veterans experience food and financial insecurity at disproportionately high rates, often due to a lack of transition resources, gaps in education, insufficient job training, and service-related disabilities that hinder employment.

Financial insecurity is a leading cause of food insecurity, which has been on the rise with the current state of inflation. Mission Roll Call works with Congress to address and solve these issues in the veteran community.

To alleviate food and financial insecurity in the veteran community, we must invest in transition employment opportunities, healthcare and housing stability for all veterans and their families.
