Maj Herbert Fuller
Service Story
Major Clarence H. Fuller (1LT at time of award) was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action near Majong-Dong, Korea, on December 6, 1950. Leading a patrol to assess enemy strength, he exposed himself to heavy fire to locate enemy positions, directed mortar strikes, and personally engaged the enemy. When ammunition ran low, he ordered a withdrawal but stayed behind to continue directing fire. Learning that one of his men was wounded, he organized and led a rescue party, successfully evacuating the soldier. His courage and leadership brought great credit to himself and the U.S. Army.
