SGT Don Allen Clary
Service Story
Don Allen was a member of the 2nd Battalion, 130th Field Artillery in the Kansas National Guard. He proudly enlisted at 17, following the footsteps of this father who served in Vietnam, and grandfather who served in WWII and Korea.
Don Allen, along with Sgt. Clint Wisdom, were killed in Baghdad on November 8, 2004. Both were serving as members of a personal security detail for a convoy that included the head of the Iraq Survey Group and several Defense Intelligence Agency analysts. When a suicide truck bomber approached, the men positioned their vehicle between the bomber and the convoy. As a result of their sacrifice, no members of the convoy were seriously injured.
